Awakening natural development in managers, teams, organisations

Marina Avau
Marina Avau (1959) is Doctor in the psychological sciences, specialisation Labour and Organisation psychology.  During the first 15 years of her career she held different management functions with Philips and ICI concentrating on the field of Human Resources and Strategic Planning. The challenges she faced grew from a local focus (training, communication, general Personnel Management) over a European one (European HR Manager) and world wide responsibilities (Strategic Planning, Management Development, Organisation Development) to the level of taking up corporate responsibilities (potential assessment).

Marina is fascinated by the potential in human beings, a potential that shows through effective cooperation relationships characterised by respect for the uniqueness of every person, optimal leverage of diversity and clear recognition of responsibility in relation to each other and in relation to the targeted outcomes. Involvement and  integrity are key values in her approach.

Nature as a metaphor
Nature “is” and “becomes”: “becoming who you are…” Nature teaches us a lot about the natural drive to develop and evolve, about the “acceptance of what is”. Spring, summer, autumn or winter: life juices keep flowing. Time and again new shoots appear, new leaves start to blossom, new fruits grow. And year after year, the growing year rings of a tree testify of a lived through, solid experience from which further growth can awaken. Focused lopping and appropriate dunging provide nature a helping hand.

Nature is systemic. Everything is linked with everything else. A small thing influences something big and vice versa. Everything has a meaning, is useful. Recognition of the uniqueness in its interconnection, is not alone a fascinating picture but is equally necessary to support the optimal development of the whole. Attention for every subpart and for the totality… Differentiation and integration, at all levels…

Nature heals, makes whole. It is natural to help people, teams, organisations to become more “whole”, more complete. Creating conditions that support this natural process is a grateful vocation.

Supporting cultural change through the facilitation of a process that involves and engages employees in the actual living and sharing of values.
